Our Human Frailty tackles the first migrant crises of the 21st century. This will of course continue because of several factors that have coalesced at this time, those been climate change, middle eastern economic and religious wars and the continuing financial crises and the imbalance in wealth and opportunity around the globe.
The song is mainly a humanitarian reaction to the crisis, but also looks at the political and media response, that has included British prime minister David Cameron referring to “Swarms of Migrants” and several other politicians within the EU, who have been xenophobic and media hysterical in their response.
What Europe needs is a properly cohesive immigration policy, that can cope with what will be a century of displacement of people because of climate change and the resulting economic knock on effects.
The song tries gets to the heart of the matter, with western governments supplying billions in arms to middle eastern governments, who bomb either their own countries or their neighbours, while at the same time decrying terrorist atrocities, that use the oxygen of these events to push their warped ideas.
We also hide being the fact of our own responsibility, with the political decisions made on our behalf and continued support of the arms trade supplying to irresponsible governments.
Of course what is needed is a more than anything else, is talks and an agreement between the two power brokers, Saudi Arabia and Iran, who represent Sunni and Shia religions. This is one of the oldest struggles dated back to the 7th century.
Our Human Frailty Lyrics
To flee from hate, to flee from war, to see the innocents derided by ignorance and fear. A faith is distorted, by deviant minds, Wahhabism put though a prism, plunging us into darkness.
Our human frailty a battle with truth, which we pursue
To kill or be killed, this terror on war. Masses of migrants arrive, to a virtual home. We want to believe and yet to mislead, fiction or fact, all to distract, hiding behind the headlines.
Our human frailty a battle with truth, which we pursue
We draw out envy like magnetism, believing our lives above criticism. Pull up the drawbridge start a proxy war, placates our need to do good, we just keep deluding ourselves, with media packaged just for the masses.
Grimm’s fairytales no saccharin ending, true cost of our intervention,
we can’t deny while innocents die, the part that we play is crucial
All that is peaceful is drowned out, a cult of fear, reveals a fake veneer, all eloquence is lost, puppet masters here, he’s hiding in the wings, while his puppet sings. We must be as one, try to rise above, with our message, a preponderance of love.
There flows the human tide, must have recourse, in time of need, to divest, to coalesce. In trying to match, extreme with extreme, life for life, blood for blood, it’s never ending
Our human frailty a battle with truth, which we pursue
We draw out envy like magnetism, believing our lives above criticism. Pull up the drawbridge start a proxy war, placates our need to do good, we just keep deluding ourselves, with media packaged just for the masses.
In spite of ourselves, we must be clear, tolerance voices all we should hear.
Paradise lost, Paradise lost.
